Check your bios, make sure your sata controller is set to ATA, not AHCI. Otherwise the computer wont see the drive when trying to install XP in some cases.
Desktop cmos Battery
Dell Insoiron 1420 cmos battery (CR2032)
Step for (Dell inspiron 1420)
1. Restart press F2 >>> check the time if it show back to factory set, then
2. Goto SATA operation >>>> change AHCI to ATA
3. Before you can change to ATA you must goto Flash Cash Module
4. Change to OFF
5. Exit
6. Restart window
7. If window can boots normally then shut down window for about a minute.
8. Then switch ON again, If window keep restarting again.
9. Replace Cmos /RTC battery inside the PC/Laptop.
10. After replace Goto step 1 to 7 again. If window can Boots normally >> Solve (End)
11. If NO then Check the RAM And Hardisk (repair window).
12. Replace if faulty.
